The Texas Frontier Heritage and Cultural Center™ presents:

Recent history has impacted – and been impacted by – a variety of advances in aviation. In a little more than one hundred years, our country and our world have witnessed great strides in the technologies embodied in various aircraft. We have all been affected by these advances in all sorts of different ways.

Not surprisingly, the innovations found in the last one hundred years of aircraft development have given birth to major changes in our global circumstances. At the same time, many of those epochal innovations were themselves the result of the political, economic, and cultural changes of the time.

Dr. John Russell will offer a fascinating perspective on the factors that led to the development of some well known…and not so well known…aircraft. In a similar vein, he will offer an insider’s observations about the technical and non-technical consequences that resulted from them.

Dr. Russell is the President of McMurry University. He is a career officer of thirty-three years in the United States Air Force and an aerospace engineer by disciplinary training.

ONE OF MANY LOCAL EVENTS OF
Our ongoing Chautauqua Learning Series is based on the Chautauqua movement which spread throughout the rural United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It provided educational lectures and entertainment for average Americans before the advent of mass media like radio and television. The Texas Frontier Heritage and Cultural Center™ is proud to continue the spirit of that tradition in the unique setting of the Buffalo Gap Historic Village.

The Grady McWhiney Research Foundation would like to say Thank You to our honored suporters for helping us make the Chautauqua experience available to our community: The Dian Graves Owen Foundation, Judd White ~ CBS Insurance LLP, and Red Steagall.
