The Texas Frontier Heritage and Cultural Center™ presents:

The Emergent Movement. Emerging Christianity.
Emerging congregations.
The Emergent Village. Postmodern Christianity.
These designations are all flourishing
among contemporary Christians. But what do they mean? What is Emerging Christianity?
|
Dr. Mark Waters will address these questions in the February session of
the Chautauqua Learning Series. Dr. Waters is the Director of the Servant
Leadership Center of the Southwest at McMurry University and Assistant Professor of Servant Leadership.
His faith experience has led him to seek expressions of Christianity that
transcend the old boundaries of liberal/conservative, Catholic/Protestant,
traditional/progressive, East/West, and so on, in search of an inclusive
faith that nurtures community in a diverse, pluralistic world. The intersection
of this quest and Emerging Christianity forms basis of his talk, “What
is Emerging Christianity?” |

Our ongoing Chautauqua Learning Series is based on the Chautauqua movement
which spread throughout the rural United States in the late 19th and early
20th centuries. It provided educational lectures and entertainment for
average Americans before the advent of mass media like radio and television.
The Texas Frontier Heritage and Cultural Center™ is proud to continue the
spirit of that tradition in the unique setting of the Buffalo Gap Historic
Village.
The Grady McWhiney Research Foundation would like to say Thank You to our
honored suporters for helping us make the Chautauqua experience available
to our community: The Dian Graves Owen Foundation, Judd White ~ CBS Insurance
LLP, and Red Steagall. |
