What if the speed of light were 1 m.p.h.? What if the Earth didn’t spin? If a tree falls in the forest...? We’ll consider similar questions as a mechanism to understanding the world around us. In particular, we will consider knowing, consequences, and cause and effect in the physical sciences.
Guest Ponderer: Dr. Joe Christensen,
Professor of Physics at McMurry University

What If... and Why is the sixth lecture in our new Chautauqua Learning Series. The Learning Series is based on the Chautauqua movement which spread throughout the rural United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It provided educational lectures and entertainment for average Americans before the advent of mass media like radio and television. The Texas Frontier Heritage and Cultural Center™ is proud to continue the spirit of that tradition in the unique setting of the Buffalo Gap Historic Village.
