The Texas Frontier Heritage and Cultural Center™
presents:
POETRY IS NOT
A FOUR LETTER WORD
 |
April is National Poetry Month. In honor of that occasion, the Chautauqua Learning Series is proud to bring you a program of poetry reading, writing, and enjoying from crusading poetry advocate Dr. Jim Wilson. A practicing veterinarian for over 35 years, a husband, a father of three, and a two-bit astronomer, Wilson draws from all facets of life for his collection of over 400 poems and four published books.
Where does poetry come from? How can I use poetry to make me a better person?
How can I read and enjoy poetry and still keep my friends? When can I use
a poem to my advantage? Such questions are grist for Wilson’s mill. Join
us at the Village to share the insights of his poetic muse! |
Saturday, April 11, 2009
11:00-12:30 in the Village Gallery

| The Chautauqua Learning Series is based on the Chautauqua movement which spread throughout
the rural United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It provided
educational lectures and entertainment for average Americans before the
advent of mass media like radio and television. Past lectures have spanned
a wide range of subjects, such as the concept of Southern honor, the first Thanksgiving, and how Christianity has dealt with religious diversity. The Texas Frontier Heritage and Cultural
Center™ is proud to continue the spirit of that tradition in the unique
setting of the Buffalo Gap Historic Village. |
